Vegetable spreads are called "creams"
in Italy, even though they contain no dairy products. This artichoke
cream is made from fresh organic artichoke hearts and organic extra
virgin olive oil. Use on bread, crackers or as a garnish on vegetable
dishes.
Ligurian Taggiasche olives are prized
by connoisseurs for their qualities as rich, earthy table olives. Our
black olive spread is made from organic Taggiasche olives by Davide and
Andrea Bronda of Albenga. The organic extra virgin olive oil in this
spread is the Bronda brothers' own. Instead of using chemical sprays,
they hang biological traps in their olive trees to catch the flies
before they can lay their eggs in the olives. Davide and Andrea's
success with organic olive production has inspired many of their
neighboring growers to go organic.
Perfect table olives, these are buttery
and mild, having a smooth, rich flavor with earthy accents. Taggiasche
olives are a specialty of Liguria, the Italian Riviera. Davide and
Andrea Bronda maintain their family tradition of producing regional
specialties on their farm high in the hills above the Ligurian sea.
Instead of spraying their olive trees, Davide and Andrea use biological
traps to eliminate olive flies, ensuring that no chemicals touch their
olives.
